Board of Directors

Our Board is made up of two executive directors responsible for the day to day running of the company and two non-executive directors appointed by the National Offender Management Service.

The non-executive directors monitor the executive activity and contribute to the development of strategy. They are not employees of the company and provide independent views.

Executive directors

Liz Rijnenberg, Chief Executive

Liz has 35 years experience of working in public, voluntary and private sectors.Before holding senior roles in probation she worked in social services and community development projects with a focus on engaging residents to work together to improve their quality of life and avoid the criminal justice system

Kathryn Williams, Head of Finance & Infrastructure

Kathryn is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. She spent a number of years at HTV Group plc before moving to the National Health Service in Mid Glamorgan as Assistant Director of Finance.

In 2000 she joined the University of Glamorgan as Head of Finance with management responsibility for a department of more than 40 staff. She supported the major change agenda following the merger of Glamorgan and Newport in early 2013 to form the University of South Wales and ensured the timely completion of the first set of accounts for the newly merged organisation.

She joined the Wales Probation Trust in February of this year and is currently Head of Finance and Infrastructure for the Wales CRC.

Non executive directors

David Evans

Lead NED David Evans is a retired financial services expert from Colwyn Bay and former Vice Chair of Wales Probation. He brings a knowledge of industry and management as well as a commitment to probation’s role in reducing reoffending.

Neil Bale

Audit Chair Neil is a retired RAF Group Captain who now runs a gold award winning farm guesthouse near Lake Vyrnwy. He is Chair of the Tourism Partnership for Mid Wales and The Lake Vyrnwy Marketing Association. During his 30 years in the RAF he led the Administrative Discharge and Courts Martial systems and has particular concern about the high numbers of ex-Service people in the criminal justice system.
